History:
Originally built in the 1870s, it had the dual function of being a cotton spinning & weaving mill.
The mill on Norwich St was owned by John Pilling, in 1891 listing was known as the Norwich Street and Wellfield Mills; which had 40,000 spindles, 188/328 twist, 148/408 weft; 1,500 looms, mexicans, twills, printers, shirtings, &c.; Manchester warehouse-8, Mosley street. Pay day last Wed. Telegrams, "Pilot, Rochdale." ... On the 25th May 2011 a fire broke out on the premises that was owned by a company called Sartex Quilts & Textiles which totally destroyed the building, ever since then the building has remained in a dangerous state.
