**Grid Reference: SD76921477**
Whippalow Hill is located just off the A676, before reaching Hawkshaw village in Greater Manchester. The site is visible from the main road on the left-hand side if travelling towards Hawkshaw. To access the site, take the public footpath immediately after the road. While the barrow remains visible from the path, the site is situated on private land and is enclosed by barbed wire.
The mound itself stands at 15 metres high with a steep incline and a base diameter of 40 metres. Based on records and information from the Bury Archaeological Society, the site is believed to date from the late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age, and is thought to have been used for ritual burials.
